Thats the Question. I don't have a handle on the safets place to keep buying power as long as Gold and Silver are in lock step with the stock market.

Interest rates are rising, money is probably flowing into Bonds and related instruments.

Actually the bond charts work upside down. When interest rates go up, bonds rates go down.

This is a pic of a weekly continuous 5 year Treasury chart. The 10 year and long bond both show similar information.

Notice the influx of volume and interest since the rates have been climbing (bonds have been going down).

I haven't looked at everything but the Eurodollar (US $$ stored in Europe) shows a similar trend.

Gold and silver seem, lately, to be looking like just another American stock, in some ways.

I've noticed the same thing you have, E-A. And just today one of the many gold commentators somewhere (Kitco, Goldseek, I forget right now) made the same exact point and indicated that not until PMs break free from the motion of the broader US indexes will they begin to really increase. Stocks up, PMs up, vice versa. It's bizzare.

Everyone should also read the commentary on Sinclairs site today (and every day, actually) talking about hedge fund button pushers.

The free money interest rate carry trade is falling apart and the hedge fund babies don't know what to do, so they are flipping their massive cash piles around the globe the way I change channels after a dozen beers, looking to catch a trend for a few points and then bail.

They are deathly afraid of redemptions and no longer being able to afford $500 dollar bottle service at Cain.

Is this possibly the Japanese carry trade unraveling. Its like the sap in a tree leaving the leaves. Markets are wilting.

That's what commentators are saying.

The yen is still free, but the markets they have been dumping it into are falling apart. Returns aren't what they were in the emerging markets. They may still get yen for nothing, but they are losing the sure things to make their crazy return numbers.

Redemption city ahead? Who will cry for the hedge fund a-holes that go broke? The smokin' hot actress/waitresses on 27th street downtown and the $1,000 hookers, maybe (same thing?)

Schadenfreude will be the word of the day when redemptions begin to pour in, won't it?
